THE ACADEMY'S ROLE WITHIN AEOP

The Academy of Applied Science administers four of the AEOP's group of programs: ISEF, JSHS, REAP
and ECIP

International Science & Engineering Fair Awards Program

The International Science & Engineering Fair Awards Program (ISEF) is an Army Educational Outreach Program (AEOP) administered by the Academy of Applied Science that provides awards to 300 local, regional and state high school science and engineering fairs through out the year.

The program was established to encourage the interest of high school students in science and engineering, to reward their scientific achievements, and to encourage them to pursue careers in science or engineering. The Army Research Office (ARO) sponsors ISEF awards for the U. S. Army. Qualified experts drawn from local Army personnel serve as judges, with subsequent presentation of prizes to successful competitors.

High school students in grades nine through twelve are eligible for tangible gifts and savings bond awards. Award recipients must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. In eligible fairs that include middle school students in grades eight and below, these individual students' projects will be reviewed. They are eligible for separate certificates of accomplishment. No monetary awards are issued to middle school students.

ARO coordinates, executes, and promotes science and technology programs through universities, government laboratories, and nonprofit and for-profit organizations. Fostering an academic interest in science and engineering from high school through post-doctoral levels is of great importance to ARO.  Please visit the AEOP website for information on all of their efforts.
